THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why MARAUDING HORDE (M V'Rensburg) had to ease in the concluding stages. b) CAPE EAGLE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 13h12 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer W A Nel was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer A Nel was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 13h22 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently CAPE EAGLE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h37, 7/1 in the betting). c) DOWN TO BUSINESS (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt advised (DZ).
