THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) The Starter reported that the draw numbers on the back of the starting stalls were incorrect. This was rectified, causing a delay.
b) BELA VISTA (R Fourie), SALOON GIRL (O Noach) and COLD BREEZE (C Zackey) were reluctant to load.
c) SHIPINDANI (C Orffer) was restless in the stalls.
d) ALEX MILLER (A Andrews), DOUBLE DASH (G van Niekerk), SALOON GIRL (O Noach) and PRINCESS BEAUTIFUL (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing one length.
e) WIZZ (X Carstens) jumped awkwardly inwards.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 700m SHIPINDANI (C Orffer), which was racing awkwardly, was steadied and directed outwards when close to the heels of SALOON GIRL (O Noach). As a consequence, AM STILL WINNING (L Mxothwa), which raced green, was carried outwards.
b) COLD BREEZE (C Zackey) was continually held up for a clear run between the 400m and the finish.
c) Shortly before the finish HERITAGE RIDGE (R Khathi) raced onto the heels of FLEUR DE VILLE (K Steyn) and was steadied.
d) WIZZ (X Carstens), ALEX MILLER (A Andrews) and EXQUISITE (G Wright) raced green.
e) Jockey A Arries was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.8 in that he failed to keep WORLDCRAFT on a straight course parallel to the running rail and relative to the draw position until a point not less the 200m from the start. Jockey A Arries signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
f) In view of the performances of BELA VISTA (R Fourie) (Betting 5/4; Distance 8 lengths) and PRINCESS BEAUIFUL (M Winnaar), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies.
g) WORLDCRAFT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (TJ)
