THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JOLLIFICATION (M Yeni) refused to load and was subsequently withdrawn (16h21, 15/1 in the betting). b) GIVERS GRACE (G Wright), PETIT VERDOT (A Mgudlwa), GRANDI ORECCHIE (S Moodley) and MASCHERINA (S Veale) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WONDERFUL (C Habib) and MASCHERINA (S Veale) over-raced in the early stages. b) MASCHERINA (S Veale) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m. c) Jockey C F Dicken (ESCAPOLOGIST) accidentally dropped his right-side rein at the 200m, which he regained shortly afterwards. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with MY LADY SOUL in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of WONDERFUL (C Habib) (6.70 lengths, 3/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to JOLLIFICATION (M Yeni), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable on a raceday with a companion. Suspension dates: 02.06.2024 to the 08.06.2024. JOLLIFICATION may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer N Kotzen was advised (SN). g) MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 15h36 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Stable employee J Mynhardt acting on behalf of Trainer R A Hill was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Stable employee J Mynhardt was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 15h46 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15h53, 12/1 in the betting). h) FAIZAH (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer G van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) advised (DZ).
