THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) HOSPICES DE BEAUNE (C Orffer) was reluctant to load.
b) COMMANDER GREEN (G Wright) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, HAPPY DAYS (M Mjoka) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b) STATED (JP van der Merwe) over raced in the early and middle stages.
c) At the 350m NORDIC PRINCE (R Khathi) was steadied briefly and directed outwards when unable to secure a clear run between WESTERN WORLD (A Arries) and STATED (JP van der Merwe).
d) At the 200m NORDIC PRINCE (R Khathi) was directed inwards to avoid the heels of a tiring HOSPICES DE BEAUNE (C Orffer).
e) STATED (JP van der Merwe) was hanging out in the latter stages.
f) In view of the debut performance of HOSPICES DE BEAUNE (C Orffer), which tired quickly in the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g) Trainer Gareth van Zyl was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that COMMANDER GREEN had been gelded. Trainer Gareth van Zyl signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00.
h) POWERANDTHEGLORY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ)
