THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MASTER CASPER (G Lerena) was stubborn to load.
b) GALACTUS (C Zackey) reared as the start was effected, dislodging Jockey Zackey.
c) TOP GUN (M Yeni) was slow, losing 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) A race review was called into the start of this Race with regard to GALACTUS (C Zackey) in stall gate 8. It was established that this colt had reared fractionally before the Starter had released the gates. The Stipendiary Board was of the opinion that this was as a result of the horse's own behaviour and therefore declared it to be a runner in Terms of Rule 61.5.10.3.
b) Shortly after the start ARJUNA (*B Plaatjies) and MASTER CASPER (G Lerena) came together and brushed.
c) In the concluding stages IMPACT INVESTOR (R Fourie) which hung in from the 200m was carried out marginally by MASTER CASPER (G Lerena) which rolled out.
d) In view of the performance of ARJUNA (*B Plaatjies) (9.55 lengths, 11/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to GALACTUS (C Zackey), this colt's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 09.06.2024 to the 15.06.2024. GALACTUS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G S Kotzen was advised (SN).
f) THE SPECIALIST (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (DZ).
