THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRENCH BOLT (C Habib) lost 1 length. b) CATS PAJAMAS (M Yeni) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GREAT PLAINS (R Fourie) jumped out leaving the starting stalls. b) FIELD MARSHAL (J P v'd Merwe) and WAHEED (R Danielson) over-raced in the early stages. c) Leaving the 1200m SOHO STAR (K Matsunyane) rolled in and clipped the heels of DON'T CRY FOR ME (P Strydom), which rolled out marginally. d) Leaving the 150m, FIELD MARSHAL (J P v'd Merwe) was steadied when close to the heels of THE MASK (A Mgudlwa) which shifted out sharply away from the crop and was immediately corrected. e) In view of the performances of GROVEFIELD (C Maujean) (8.95 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) and DON'T CRY FOR ME (P Strydom) (12.45 lengths, 9/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) GREAT PLAINS (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
