THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPIRIT IN THE WIND (D Schwarz) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SPIRIT IN THE WIND (D Schwarz) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) CAPTAINS CLOVER was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen analysed at 12H35 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer R Klaasen was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer R Klaasen was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 12H51 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently CAPTAINS CLOVER was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12H56, 40/1 in the betting). c) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with TIPPERARY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. P F Matchett was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of TIPPERARY on return to stables. d) WHISTLEDOWN (N Klink), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Khan advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) VILLA SEMAYA raced equipped with cheek pieces and without blinkers (declared 12 June 2024 at 09H04). b) ENCHANTED ROYAL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 12 June 2024 at 09H04). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) TIPPERARY examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) ENCHANTED ROYAL cast its left front shoe in running. c) SPIRIT IN THE WIND coughing post race.
