THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN BARBOSA (Wes Marwing) and SILVER MARMALADE (D Schwarz) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HAT FURIOUS (C Zackey) raced clear and in advance of the field fitted with blinkers for the first time and thereafter tired badly from the 300m. b) Jockey D Schwarz did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that SILVER MARMALADE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) The saddle on ERIMITAGE (P Strydom) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by Stipendiary Board. d) MAIN MISSION (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
