THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BIRDWATCHER (*K J Lihaba) over-raced in the early stages. b) QUENTASIA (C Habib) was hanging in from the 300m. c) In view of the performances of BIRD WATCHER (*K J Lihaba) (13.80 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), and KITTEN'S ADVENTURE (C F Dicken) (9.00 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) PERFECT TRUST was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 15h50 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer C Hewitson was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer C Hewitson was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 16h00 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently PERFECT TRUST was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 16h06, 4/1 in the betting). e) MISS PAGET (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (DZ).
