The start of the Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous Race. MISSION BEACH, DISNEY PRINCESS, BOLD MOVE and GOLDEN DUCK were slow, losing one length. Approaching the 1000m, BASETSANA shifted out, raced around the field and was positioned on the outside of the leaders at the 600m. Jockey Marcus, the rider of BASETSANA, lost his right side rein at the 100m, which he only regained shortly after the finish. Jockey Marcus signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse BASETSANA more than 12 times in the entire race. In determining a penalty, the Board considered Jockey Marcus's recent record in relation to this Rule and the manner in which he used his crop. Accordingly, a penalty was imposed. An investigation will be opened into Jockey Samuel's crop use in this Race. In reviewing the form of SUPER FLUKE, the Board noted that today's start was this filly's first run for Trainer Naidoo and in this province. Accordingly, it elected not to question Trainer Naidoo regarding SUPER FLUKE's previous form. SUPER FLUKE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. NOBLE DIANA raced with a tongue tie. The ownership of RUBY COVE should read: Messrs Gary Clarke, Douglas Campbell, D A Peter & Miss K Govender; and the Colours are: light blue, royal blue and light blue hooped sleeves, light blue cap.
