THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE AS WELL AS THE LATE SCRATCHINGS OF POMO CLAPPER (WES MARWING) AND SPLASHLANDING (N KLINK).
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SPLASHLANDING (N Klink) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer C Spies was advised (PHvdW).
b) SHINTO SHRINE (C Habib) was slow losing one length.
c) AMERICAN SPIRIT (C Maujean) and GOLD DE GRACE (S Khumalo) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) ROLL OF THE DICE (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter commenced to hang in around the turn.
b) Jockey P Strydom reported that VIVA LA VICTOR did not stride out freely in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey J R Syster reported that MO MENT took no interest in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with GOLD DE GRACE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SPLASHLANDING, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 23 June 2024 to 29 June 2024. SPLASHLANDING may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Spies was advised.
f) SHINTO SHRINE (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
