THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start Jockey D Ashby expressed concern with LORD CAPULET's action during the canter past. This colt was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) WOLFRAM (L Mxothwa) and HE'S A GAUL (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DANCE MO was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer GD Smith was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer GD Smith was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently DANCE MO was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h06, 5/4 in the betting). DANCE MO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised (Dr M Bawden) b) ISLAND MASTER (SB Kotzen) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) At the 200m WOLFRAM (L Mxothwa) shifted in sharply away from the crop and had to be straightened. d) In view of the performance of PETTEIA (R Fourie), which proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) WOLFRAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
