THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m COLORAMA (Y Ramzan) raced onto the heels of PROJECT RUNWAY (S Khumalo), was steadied and directed outwards and made contact with PITZUCHIM (*DB Geerthsen). Shortly thereafter, PROJECT RUNWAY (S Khumalo) commenced to give ground to the field and shifted out, which resulted in COLORAMA (Y Ramzan) making contact with PITZUCHIM (*DB Geerthsen), which then shifted out and carried RUNNINGFORTHESTARS (J Gates) outwards before being straightened. Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards accepted that PROJECT RUNWAY was tiring at this stage of the race, he was still expected to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion. In view of the performance of PROJECT RUNWAY (S Khumalo), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) YOUCRACKMEUP, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer NJ Paddock, acting on behalf Trainer WGC Miller, was advised.
