THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIDEKI (R Fourie) was stubborn loading. b) GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing one length. c) GLOBAL STATE (*DB Geerthsen) was nervous in the stalls. d) MAGDALA (M Yeni) jumped with its head up and thereafter was slow into stride. e) SILVONIAN (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the thirty-minute interval between races. b) Jockey M Yeni appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the manner in which he rode MAGDALA. Jockey M Yeni explained that it was his intention to ride this filly without cover or company as she has a tendency to over exert herself in the early stages of her races. The Board noted Jockey M Yeni's explanation and advised him to inform the Stewards of any tactics that are out of the ordinary in future. He was further advised to ride so that the Stewards have no room or reason to query his intentions in races. c) In view of the performance of HIDEKI (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KINGDUNDEE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
