THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE 30-MINUTE INTERVAL BETWEEN RACES.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) FUTURE DATE (P Mxoli) was restless in the stalls.
b) ROYAL HORIZON (J R Syster) and WILLY MEET AGAIN (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) SEQUESTRATE (K A Brewer) was slow losing three lengths. Stable Employee N Houdalakis, acting on behalf of Trainer M N Houdalakis, was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT).
d) KOMATI RIVER (C Habib) and SHES EVERYTHING (M Yeni) were slow into stride.
e) CARTAGENA (R Danielson) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) As the start was effected, CARTAGENA (R Danielson) became restless and nudged the front gates open marginally prematurely. This action led to the Handler allocated to CARTAGENA (R Danielson) being fractionally slow in releasing this filly, resulting in her being slow away. The Stewards, after reviewing the start, were satisfied that the subsequent marginal impediment and loss of ground were due to this filly's behaviour and took no further action. Trainer H E Adamson is to be advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GF).
b) Shortly after the start, SHES EVERYTHING (M Yeni) was bumped in by ROYAL HORIZON (J R Syster), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. As a result, Jockey M Yeni (SHES EVERYTHING) briefly lost the footing to his right-side stirrup iron.
c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ROYAL HORIZON, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer H van der Westhuizen was advised.
d) WILLY MEET AGAIN (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
