THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISTER MIYAGI (*DB Geerthsen) was stubborn loading. b) ISLAND MASTER (M van Rensburg) jumped inwards. c) PETTEIA (R Fourie) and PORTCULLIS (S Naidoo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start PORTCULLIS (S Naidoo) was buffeted between ISLAND MASTER (M van Rensburg), which jumped in and PETTEIA (R Fourie), which resulted in the hindquarters of PETTEIA (R Fourie) being turned inwards. b) PORTCULLIS (S Naidoo) shifted outwards away from the crop from the 250m. c) Leaving the 150m BELLE'S FIRST WAVE (C Maujean) shifted out away from the crop and was straightened. d) In view of the performance of TAKE A MULLIGAN (L Mxothwa) (Betting 33/20; Distance 8.60 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer GD Smith was requested to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. e) PETTEIA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
