THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAKAZOLE (D Muscutt) and CHINABERRY (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the starting stalls Jockey K A Brewer's (SUNSET RIOT) left side stirrup leather broke resulting in this colt shifting out, brushing COLD SHINE (G Wright) on a number of occasions. Thereafter Jockey Brewer was unable to assist SUNSET RIOT and as a result this colt shifted out, hampering GOLDEN RULE (D De Gouveia) and thereafter raced wide. Jockey Brewer's saddle fittings were examined after the running of this race and were found to be in otherwise good condition. b) At the 300m WINDS OF CHANGE (J P v'd Merwe) when attempting a run on the outside of WAHEED (M Yeni), was steadied and switched to the inside of WAHEED (M Yeni), which had rolled out. c) In the concluding stages PROCEED (R Fourie) shifted in and thereafter was switched out away from COSMIC SPEED (C Zackey) which rolled out. d) Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss in the running with COLD SHINE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that GOLDEN RULE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) COSMIC SPEED (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
