THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRAZINGINTHEGRASS (R Fourie) was nervous and rushed the front gates of the starting stalls. b) MOUNT ANDERSON (KA Brewer) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) BRENDEN JAMES (S Khumalo) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Between the 650m and 550m RUNAWAY SONG (L Mxothwa) was baulked for a clear run, had to be switched out and made slight contact with GLOBAL ALLY (K Minnie). b) On viewing the patrol film of the race, the Stipendiary Board noticed that Jockey X Ndlovu did not fully assist DESTINY OF SOULS during the running of this race and he eased his mount out of the race at the 550m. Subsequently, Jockey X Ndlovu reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was notified of Jockey Ndlovu's report and upon examination identified that DESTINY OF SOULS had made an abnormal respiratory noise. The Stewards have adjourned to assess this matter. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything further amiss with DESTINY OF SOULS on this gelding's return to the stables. c) GRAZINGINTHEGRASS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
