THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAM JAM (L Mxothwa) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls . b) LADY ZULTANITE (S Khathi) and SPIRIT PRINCESS (C Zackey) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 250m STATE OF MIND (D Schwarz) was carried outwards and became awkwardly placed on the heels of OUTER DIMENSION (R Fourie), which shifted outwards and was corrected. b) Jockey S Khathi stopped riding LADY ZULTANITE at the 50m mark and, four strides before the finish line, patted this filly on the neck. The Board, taking into cognisance the distance at which Jockey S Khathi stopped riding his mount and the distance between LADY ZULTANITE and the second-placed horse (0.25 lengths), summoned Jockey S Khathi to the boardroom and advised him that he is expected to ride his mounts out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. He was further advised that should he ride his mounts in a similar manner in future engagements, measures will be taken against him. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with SPIRIT PRINCESS and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. d) LADY ZULTANITE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Nothing obvious detected THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
