The start of this race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between Races 5 and 6 and due to the reasons stated in the Starters' report below. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PALERMO (S Khumalo) was stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 900m FAMOUS AND RICH (*J Botes) was inconvenienced when close to the heels of LUCKY DOLLAR (C Zackey) which rolled in. b) Jockey J Jacobs reported that BANZAI PIPELINE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that LUCKY DOLLAR did not stride out freely in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PALERMO (S Khumalo), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 25.07.2024 to the 31.07.2024. PALERMO may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M N Prinsloo was advised. (TM) e) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of MASTER OF DESTINY he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R3000.00 was imposed. f) Apprentice K J Lihaba signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of CONNOISSEUR, he failed to ride this horse out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards prejudicing him obtaining 5th position outright. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2875.00 was imposed. g) MASTER OF DESTINY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) TO THE RESCUE raced equipped with blinkers (advised 19.07.2024/09h39). b) BANZAI PIPELINE raced without blinkers (advised 20.07.2024/08h33).
