THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COTTON RON (S Khumalo) lost 2 lengths. b) MAR DEL PLATA (J Jacobs) jumped out sharply and lost 2 lengths. c) SAHARA DAWN (C Zackey) lost 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) IMPERIAL POWER (C Habib) was baulked between the 650m and the 500m. Thereafter this gelding was switched to the outside of runners to obtain a clear run. b) At approximately the 150m Jockey T Godden (LICENCE TO THRILL), which was hanging out, briefly dropped his right-side rein when attempting to straighten this gelding. As a consequence, ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA (M Yeni) and COTTON RON (S Khumalo) were momentarily inconvenienced by LICENCE TO THRILL (T Godden). c) In the concluding stages MAR DEL PLATA (J Jacobs) was briefly baulked and was switched out off the heels of HAPPY WANDERER (*D Pillay) to obtain a clear run. d) Apprentice B Plaatjies reported that PLETTENBERG made an abnormal respiratory noise at the pull up. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockeys S Veale (FIRE TONIC) and C Zackey (SAHARA DAWN) reported that their respective mounts took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) LICENCE TO THRILL (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M D Miller advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MASTERBLING raced fitted with a tongue tie (advised 20.07.2024/08h33). b) DHOW SOLO raced without blinkers (advised 19.07.2024/14h51). c) Jockey S Khumalo (COTTON RON) weighed out at 54.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) PLETTENBERG : Abnormal respiratory noise and coughing. b) FIRE TONIC : Nothing obvious detected. c) SAHARA DAWN : Nothing obvious detected.
