THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BEIJING BOULEVARD (S Naidoo) was stubborn loading.
b) CARVED IN STONE (J Gates) stood awkwardly in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
c) ALTA LEKKER (X Ndlovu) and GALAXY MOMENT (E Webber) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) ACCUMULATE (Y Ramzan) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led riderless by a Handler, causing a delay. Trainer GD Smith will be advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended.
b) Shortly after the start BEIJING BOULEVARD (S Naidoo) was buffeted between FUTURE STAR (M Yeni) and FIRST WISH (R Fourie). Thereafter BEIJING BOULEVARD (S Naidoo) lost some ground and raced detached from the field.
c) CARVED IN STONE (J Gates), which jumped awkwardly, raced detached from the field for the entire race.
d) SUNDROP (*DB Geerthsen) had to steady momentarily off the heels of GALAXY MOMENT (E Webber), which shifted inwards at approximately the 300m.
e) DUMISANI (C Maujean) and VINTAGE CRYSTAL (S Khumalo) came together and brushed on a number of occasions when VINTAGE CRYSTAL (S Khumalo) shifted in marginally and DUMISANI (C Maujean) shifted out slightly away from the crop in the concluding stages.
f) Jockeys D Schwarz (BELLTONW) and J Gates (CARVED IN STONE) appeared before the Board and were advised not to use the crop on their mounts when out of contention for a place.
g) DUMISANI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JL van Heerden was advised. (HK)
