THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVONIAN (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls. b) BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) was restless in the stalls and lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) The Stewards called a race review into the start regarding BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) in stall gate 8 and after reviewing the patrol film from all angles and taking evidence from the Assistant Starter who was positioned directly behind BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) at the start, they established that this colt had been restless in the stalls and had kicked out on a couple of occasions, but once the start was effected it had all feet on the ground and had been presented with every opportunity to jump on terms. Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that any disadvantage to the start of BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) was due to its own behaviour and BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) was deemed to be a runner. b) Entering the straight BUFFALO STORM CODY (C Habib) was brushed out by SILVONIAN (L Mxothwa) which rolled out. Immediately thereafter DANTONFROMSANDTON (R Fourie) changed stride, commenced to hang in and rolled in resulting in BUFFALO STORM CODY (C Habib) being tightened and inconvenienced. c) IMPACT INVESTOR (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 300m. d) Approaching the 100m DANTONFROMSANDTON (R Fourie) which continued to hang in and rolled in, was carried out by CATS PAJAMAS (S Veale) which rolled out and was immediately corrected. As a result BJORN IRONSIDE (G Lerena), which was hanging in, was directed out away from the heels of DANTONFROMSANDTON (R Fourie). A race review was called by Trainer J J van Vuuren and Jockey G Lerena as a result of this incident. After reviewing the video evidence, no further action was taken. e) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss in the running with SILVONIAN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performances of BOURBON WARRIOR (T Godden) (7.05 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) and DARING DASH (D De Gouveia) (16.05 lengths, 40/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SILVONIAN, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Suspension dates 29.07.2024 - 26.09.2024 bdi. h) CATS PAJAMAS (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) LEAD THE CHARGE raced fitted with a tongue tie (advised 26.07.2024/07h55). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SILVONIAN : Bilateral epistaxis confirmed. 60 day suspension. Trainer G D Smith was advised. b) BOURBON WARRIOR : Nothing obvious detected. c) DARING DASH : Post race distress. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
