THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARVED IN STONE (*N Nastili) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) LADY LUCK (S Veale) and CACUA SPIRIT (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the thirty-minute interval between races. b) ELEGANT APPEAL (C Habib) and CACUA SPIRIT (L Mxothwa) over raced in the early and middle stages. c) STRING OF LIGHTS (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 300m. d) ENGLISH MISTRESS (A Domeyer) shifted in away from the crop from the 100m. e) Jockey D Ashby reported that he felt something amiss with BELLTOWN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. f) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of ENGLISH MISTRESS he misused his crop by striking ENGLISH MISTRESS more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. g) LADY LUCK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised.
