THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANCHOR MAN (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading, causing a delay. b) OLIVER TWIST (*DB Geerthsen) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 300m DONNY'S BOY (C Habib) shifted in sharply away from the crop and made contact with GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean), which shifted slightly outwards. In this incident, the hindquarters of GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) were turned inwards slightly. The Stewards reviewed this incident and took no further action. b) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ANCHOR MAN (D Schwarz), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 03/08/2024 to 09/08/2024 inclusive). ANCHOR MAN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. c) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4 (read with Guideline 1 on overweight) in that he, as the rider of POMO'S BIG SPENDER, weighed back in at 58.7kgs, 1.2kg in excess of the weight at which he was declared out (57.5kgs). Jockey L Mxothwa signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. d) UNION ROSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
