THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GIMMETHATPEARL (C Orffer) was restless in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
b) NIGHT TIGER (M Winnaar), LUNCH MONEY (A Domeyer) and GO IT ALONE (J Solomons) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) GREAT CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently GREAT CAT was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h49, 5/10 in the betting). GREAT CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. b) The start of this race was delayed as a result of the delay in the previous race.
c) Leaving the 100m, DANCINGTOTHELIGHT (S Veale) and SOOTY (D Ashby) bumped when both horses shifted ground.
d) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with ALL ABOUT AL, which was hanging in from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) In view of the performance of GIMMETHATPEARL (C Orffer), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GIMMETHATPEARL (C Orffer), Trainer SJ Snaith will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g) NIGHT BOMBER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. (TJ)
