THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) POLICY OF TRUTH (J Syster) lost 3 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) POLICY OF TRUTH (J R Syster) over-raced in the early stages.
b) NOCTURNAL FLIGHT (T Godden) was baulked for a short distance leaving the 200m.
c) Over the final 150m BIRTHRIGHT (S Khumalo) was carried out and brushed out on two occasions by EL DANTE (A Mgudlwa) which was hanging out from the 200m. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey S Khumalo on behalf of the joint second placed horse (BIRTHRIGHT) against the winner EL DANTE (A Mgudlwa) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Board after hearing the evidence presented, was of the opinion that but for the interference BIRTHRIGHT (S Khumalo) would not have beaten EL DANTE (A Mgudlwa) and therefore over-ruled the objection. In arriving at this decision the Board took into account the extent of the interference, the distance of 0.30 lengths between the two horses at the finish and the fact that the EL DANTE (A Mgudlwa) improved past BIRTHRIGHT (S Khumalo) prior to the interference. Therefore the Objection was overruled, the Judge's result was allowed to stand and Jockey S Khumalo's deposit was refunded.
d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning KUMEMORI, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Suspension dates 8.08.2024 - 06.10.2024 bdi. Trainer G B Puller was advised.
e) EL DANTE (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (SP).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) POLICY OF TRUTH raced equipped with ear muffs (advised 02.08.2024/19h50) and without a tongue tie (advised 05.08.2024/10h03).
b) Jockey J R Syster was the rider of POLICY OF TRUTH (advised 17.08.2024/13h48).

a) KUMEMORI : Bilateral epistaxis confirmed. 60 day suspension.
