WILLIAM CAVENDISH proved reluctant to proceed to the start which caused a delay to the start of this race. ARMO (*J Mphanya) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.LOST MONARCH (K Steyn) and INTERSTATE (L Mxothwa) were stubborn loading.MONTANA SKY (R Munger) fly-jumped leaving the stalls.WILLIAM CAVENDISH proved reluctant to canter to the start.Trainer Y Bremner was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended. Approaching the 1000m, THEMADIRISHSHERIFF (B Fayd'Herbe) took an awkward stride.In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.LITTLE DRUMMER BOY cast its right front shoe in running.ARMO (*J Mphanya) jumped out making contact with THEMADIRISHSHERIFF (B Fayd'Herbe) and WHAT A PRINCE (C Maujean) which carried GAELIC STORM (W Agrella) out making slight contact. As a consequence of this incident, Apprentice Mphanya the rider of ARMO briefly lost his left-side stirrup iron. WILLIAM CAVENDISH K Minnie) hung in from the 200m.BENICARLO (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G D Smith advised.In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning THEMADSHERIFF and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for a period of sixty days.Trainer S J Snaith advised.MONTANA SKY was ridden by Jockey R Munger.NEWS ALERT raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind and raced with a tongue tie on.
