THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISHRAH (S Moodley) jumped awkwardly. Lost 1 length. b) THE LODGE (C Maujean) and INTUITIVE SPIRIT (S Veale) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start INTUITIVE SPIRIT (S Veale) was brushed in by LADY COTTON CANDY (*D Pillay) which jumped in. Thereafter, at the 1600m LADY COTTON CANDY (*D Pillay) which commenced to over-race and was difficult to assist, clipped the heels of RED MOUNTAIN (N Patel) which had rolled in. b) JUPITER HILLS was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h57 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Prinsloo was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 13h09 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 37 mmol/L. Consequently JUPITER HILLS was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h16, 9/1 in the betting). c) BURNING MAN (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
