THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start, Jockey S Khumalo expressed concern with SINGLE FILE's action while proceeding to the start. This colt was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) LEGAL CHITCHAT (Y Ramzan) was stubborn loading. c) GODFATHER (S Naidoo) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) OCTOBER FAIR (D Schwarz) and METAR (M van Rensburg) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLD GUNNER (P Mxoli) jumped outwards slightly and made contact with EMPIRE BLUE (S Veale) shortly after the start. b) GOLD GUNNER (P Mxoli) was hanging in from the 350m. c) GUNSMOKE (C Maujean) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden) d) EMPIRE BLUE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
