The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of CLOUD BREAK by the course veterinary surgeon BHALTAIR (*J Mphanya), GIACOMO (G Cheyne) and BREVIN (K Minnie) were nervous in the stalls.DUKE OF CARDS (T Gould) was nervous and slow into stride.PALACE QUEEN (C Maujean) was slow into stride. In view of the performance of GIACOMO (G Cheyne), (distance 6,25 lengths, betting 71/20), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.Jockey M van Rensburg reported that TOM 'N JERRY did not stride out freely in running.The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.Jockey K Minnie reported that BREVIN made an abnormal respiratory noise in running.The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.Jockey T Gould the rider of DUKE OF CARDS dropped his crop shortly before the finish line.Jockey M van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop), in that he struck TOM 'N JERRY more than twelve times in the entire race.Jockey van Rensburg signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R750 was imposed.
