THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GLOBAL LADY (S Veale) was injured during the loading process and withdrawn. b) MO FLOW (S Naidoo) and SAN QUINTIN (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race and the late scratching of GLOBAL LADY (S Veale). b) HAROLD THE DUKE (S Khumalo) was hanging in from the 500m to the 300m. c) Jockey Y Ramzan became unbalanced when REACH FOR THE STARS took an awkward stride at approximately the 150m. Jockey Y Ramzan appeared before the Board and was advised to report any circumstances that would affect his riding in the race. d) Jockey D Schwarz (ELECTRIC STORM) dropped his crop at the 50m. e) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with THE INKOSANA. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Trainer DA McKenzie was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.3 in that he failed to vaccinate CARAMEL FUDGE against African Horse Sickness in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer DA McKenzie signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. In assessing penalty, the Board took into account the circumstances surrounding this matter. g) Jockey CF Dicken was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride ELLIS ISLAND out to the end of the race, when circumstances permitted him to do so, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey CF Dicken signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000,00. h) ELECTRIC STORM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
