THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER GAMBLE (A Andrews), BITTER SWEET (G Wright) and GONDOLAONTHEMOLO (O Noach) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Due to a technical issue with the starting stalls, a manual start was effected. b) ANGEL'S OASIS (K Matsunyane) and BITTER SWEET (G Wright) raced green. c) Jockeys A Andrews and A Domeyer, the riders of WINTER GAMBLE and FROM A DISTANCE respectively, reported that these fillies did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey D Ashby reported that LUCY ROCKET did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on FROM A DISTANCE, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. f) Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking BITTER SWEET forward of the saddle at approximately the 250m. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. g) ELIZABETH GRACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
