THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COTTON RON (S Khumalo) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey S Khumalo reported that COTTON RON changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Apprentice D Pillay signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M) in that as the rider of HAPPY WANDERER he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. c) Apprentice D Pillay signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline C) in that as the rider of HAPPY WANDERER, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than three times on consecutive strides. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) FIRE TONIC (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey T Godden was the rider of BUSTER KEATON (advised 18.08.2024/07h39). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
