THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FULL GO (M K Katjedi) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 1000m, DJ JUNIOR (C Maujean) was carried out by WHORLY WHORLY (P Strydom), which was steadied and directed outwards to avoid the heels of BREATH OF MAGIC (M Yeni). b) At approximately the 400m, WHORLY WHORLY (P Strydom) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the outside of THAMBI (K A Brewer) and the outside running rail. c) GIMMEACHOICE (C Habib) hung out from the 200m. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with MOCHA FRAPPE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Trainer A G Laird will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of MOCHA FRAPPE on return to stables. e) ARCHIMIDES (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P P Labuschagne advised (MS). When questioned regarding the improved performance of ARCHIMIDES, Trainer P P Labuschagne could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MOCHA FRAPPE raced equipped with heart bar shoes in front and alumites behind (declared 20 August 2024 at 08H55). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MOCHA FRAPPE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) PARKER GETRIX under veterinary treatment (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
