DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, PRINCE OF MIRACLES (D DE GOUVEIA), CHARIOT OF FIRE (C ZACKEY) AND KHICHDI (N KLINK) BECAME RESTLESS AND REARED. THESE HORSES WERE RELEASED FROM THE STALLS AND EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON. KHICHDI (N KLINK) WAS SUBSEQUENTLY WITHDRAWN - INJURED. PRINCE OF MIRACLES (D DE GOUVEIA) AND CHARIOT OF FIRE (C ZACKEY) WERE DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS LED TO A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, KHICHDI (N Klink) became restless, reared in the stalls, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and scratched injured. Trainer P F Matchett was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) PRINCE OF MIRACLES (D De Gouveia) was restless in the stalls. c) CHARIOT OF FIRE (C Zackey) was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow into stride. d) PURSUIT OF FAME (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. e) ONE AND ALL (P Mxoli) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLOBAL ZEE (J Gates) shifted in away from the crop from the 150m. b) In view of the performance of CAPTAIN CLEVER (C Habib), (distance 9/2 lengths, betting 14,25), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with CHARIOT OF FIRE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) MIZZEN SWORD was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer M Khan was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer M Khan was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently MIZZEN SWORD was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12H11, 6/1 in the betting). MIZZEN SWORD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Khan was advised (Mr L Anderson). e) ONE AND ALL (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN CLEVER examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) CHARIOT OF FIRE coughing post race; abrasion on the right stifle. c) SNOW MOON cast its right front shoe in running.
