THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO BACCHUS (G LERENA) PROVING RELUCTANT TO PROCEED TO THE START AND HAVING TO BE LED BY A HANDLER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUATERMAIN (*N Nastili) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) BATTLEGROUND (C Habib) was slow losing two lengths. c) APACHE SON (K A Brewer) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BACCHUS (G Lerena) proved intractable cantering to the start and had to led by a Handler. When taking into consideration this gelding's previous history, he is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until he proves tractable cantering to the start on a Raceday. Trainer F P Habib advised (DR). b) At approximately the 800m, HAWKBILL (C Zackey) was directed outwards and raced parallel to the outside running rail for the remainder of the event. c) Jockey P Mxoli reported that DJ JUNIOR took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with QUATERMAIN in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) COUNT HUHTIKUU (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woodruff, acting on behalf of Trainers B/J Crawford, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TOTAL SURRENDER was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 2 June 2025 at 15H48).
