The start of this race was delayed due to SWEETER THAN HONEY (R A Venniker) breaking through the front gates during the loading process. This mare was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Jockey Venniker was attended to by the on course medics and passed fit to ride. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEETER THAN HONEY (R A Venniker) broke through the front gates, was immediately restrained by the rider and returned to the start. b) FREE WILL (*D Pillay) jumped awkwardly, lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SWEETER THAN HONEY (R A Venniker) and GELSOMINA (C Maujean) were hanging out from the 450m. b) Leaving the 100m MYSTIQUE ROUGE (N Patel) and in turn THE QUEEN BEE (C Zackey) and ASPOESTERTJIE (C Habib) were carried out marginally by VERMACILLI (M Yeni) which was hanging out in the final straight and shifted out. c) In view of the performances of SWEETER THAN HONEY (R A Venniker) (14.05 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) and FREE WILL (*D Pillay) (13.45 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SWEETER THAN HONEY (R A Venniker), this mare's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 02.09.2024 to the 08.09.2024. SWEETER THAN HONEY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D I Campbell was advised.
