THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRENCH TOFFEE (C Zackey) was fractious and stubborn loading and had to be loaded riderless, causing a delay. Thereafter, FRENCH TOFFEE (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) WEDDING BELLS (D Ashby) jumped slow, losing one length. c) LADY SPRINGFIELD (R Fourie) and WELSH STARLET (J Solomons) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m ENGLISH MISTRESS (A Domeyer) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed between LAVENDER BAY (C Orffer) and LADY SPRINGFIELD (R Fourie), which was hanging in and shifted in marginally. b) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking WEDDING BELLS forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding FRENCH TOFFEE (C Zackey), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 04/09/2024 to 10/09/2024 inclusive). FRENCH TOFFEE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) LADY SPRINGFIELD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
