THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MORNING CHESS (X Carstens) jumped slow, losing one length. b) UNICORN ALERT (C Zackey) jumped outwards and made contact with SONG TO THE MOON (R Fourie). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 1200m GO IT ALONE (J Solomons) had to be checked, losing position, when tightened for galloping room between the inside running rail and MOONACRES (R Khathi), which shifted in. b) Jockey R Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MOONACRES he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GO IT ALONE when he shifted in at the 1200m. Jockey R Khathi signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates to be advised) c) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with KELP FOREST, which pulled hard in the early stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) RADICCHIO (T Godden) was hanging out in the straight. e) Jockey X Carstens reported that MORNING CHESS felt uncomfortable behind. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of DAS GUTE he misused his crop by striking DAS GUTE more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000,00. g) Trainer VH Marshall was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of SLURRICANE. Trainer VH Marshall signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. h) BIG UNIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
