THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCE ANTONIO (D Schwarz) and JUST FOR U (S Khathi) were stubborn loading. b) HIERSDIEDING (P Mxoli) and OLIVER TWIST (*DB Geerthsen) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m POMO'S BIG SPENDER (L Mxothwa) was switched outwards to obtain a clear run and made slight contact with CORAL CREEK (R Fourie). b) KOHANA (C Maujean) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 200m. c) Jockey S Veale reported that LUCKY SPIRIT failed to respond to his urgings, tired quickly in the latter stages and he rode this gelding with his hands and heels across the finishing line. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) POMO'S BIG SPENDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
