THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STATEHOOD (O Noach) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Fourie reported that, in his opinion, the performance of CUMBRE VIEJA was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking STATEHOOD forward of the saddle at approximately the 100m. Jockey O Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. c) GIVETHATMANABELLS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised. (SC) d) ROYAL PORT LOUIS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
