THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE (K MATSUNYANE) PROVING RELUCTANT TO PROCEED TO THE START AND HAVING TO BE LED BY A HANDLER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IT'S HER WAY (M K Katjedi) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE (K Matsunyane) proved reluctant to canter to the start. Trainer C Spies was advised that should this mare behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) Jockey P Mxoli, the rider of QUEEN OF FIRE, was unbalanced and briefly lost the footing to his right-side stirrup iron, when bumped by IT'S HER WAY (M K Katjedi), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that SOUND MACHINE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of SO SEDUCTIVE, misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2000 was imposed. e) SO SEDUCTIVE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SECOND BREATH: Jockey G Lerena weighed out at 55,9kg, 1kg over the carded weight as declared. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SOUND MACHINE raced equipped with blinkers and without cheek pieces (declared 5 September 2024 at 07H41. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SOUND MACHINE blowing post race. b) HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE stirrup rub on the left side. c) SECOND BREATH fatigued. d) QUEEN OF FIRE abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
