THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IGNITETHELIGHT (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 750m ROYAL VENUS (C Maujean) clipped the heels of CAPE FLOWER (E Webber) and stumbled when CAPE FLOWER (E Webber) shifted inwards sharply. Jockey E Webber appeared before the Board and was advised to give sufficient ground to runners on his inside before coming over around the bend. b) OPERA VERSE (D Schwarz) was baulked for galloping room from the 200m behind CHOC' LATE (*DB Geerthsen), which was hanging in from the 300m, and then forced a run between CHOC' LATE (*DB Geerthsen) and TARTAN QUEEN (C Zackey) and made contact with both runners. Jockey D Schwarz appeared before the Board and was advised to be mindful of other runners and riders in a race and should not seek to improve into a run that is not available and potentially impacting other runners and riders safety. c) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E-3) in that he mis-used his crop by striking CAPE FLOWER in front of the saddle in the latter stages. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) IGNITETHELIGHT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
