THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WALT WHITMAN (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. b) SLAINTE MHATH (M van Rensburg) jumped slow, losing one length. c) SAN QUINTIN (E Webber) and 'O CAPTAIN (*DB Geerthsen) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with THE INKOSANA and he did not persevere with his riding from the 350m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that WALT WHITMAN coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
