THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PASHTUNWALI (M van Rensburg) and WINNING CAPTAIN (*DB Geerthsen) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LADY CRUSADE (K Minnie) over raced in the early stages. b) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with MR BODACIOUS, which over raced in the early stages and raced wide without cover around the bend and into the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) SWISS WALT (D Schwarz) shifted out and made contact with CHARLIE MALONE (C Maujean) at approximately the 200m. d) Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was questioned with regards to the reason he did not ride BENNELONG POINT out to the finish. He explained to the Board that this gelding had pulled hard in the early stages and he felt something amiss with his mount in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey C Zackey was advised to report any circumstances which would affect his mount in the race in future engagements. e) COASTAL PATH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
