THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO LIVEBYTHESWORD (*N NASTILI), UNDER THE RAINBOW (L NHLAPO) AND THE MERCIFUL (P MXOLI) PROVING STUBBORN LOADING.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LIVEBYTHESWORD (*N Nastili) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride. Trainer A Azzie was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT).
b) UNDER THE RAINBOW (L Nhlapo) was stubborn loading and restless in the stalls. Trainer B Webber was advised to reschool this colt prior to his next engagement (GT).
c) THE MERCIFUL (P Mxoli) was stubborn loading. Trainer T Zackey was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT).
d) FUTURE KNIGHT (K Matsunyane) was restless in the stalls and reared.
e) BRIGHTEST BLAZE (J R Syster) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
f) GOLD DE GRACE (R Danielson) and MISHRAH (D De Gouveia) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) RED LEGEND (C Zackey) hung in from the 350m.
b) Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with LIVEBYTHESWORD in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) RED LEGEND (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) GOLD DE GRACE: Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 57,1kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
b) MISHRAH: Jockey D De Gouveia weighed out at 55,3kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
c) VARJURY: Jockey C Maujean weighed out at 52,6kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) FUTURE KNIGHT raced equipped with blinkers and a tongue tie on (declared 17 September 2024 at 14H25).
b) VARJURY raced with club colours (black with a blue cap). Trainer F Bronkhorst was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owners of VARJURY. Trainer F Bronkhorst signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R250 was imposed.

a) LIVEBYTHESWORD examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
