THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOUNT ANDERSON (E Webber) was stubborn loading. b) BUSH TRACKER (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls. c) FAIRY KNIGHT (R Fourie) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. d) JOY AND PEACE (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length. e) BRENDEN JAMES (S Khathi), PACAYA (M Yeni) and OFFICIAL SECRET (X Ndlovu) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with FAIRY KNIGHT. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with ZATARA MAGIC. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PACAYA he misused his crop by striking PACAYA more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000,00. d) MOUNT ANDERSON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
