THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) jumped awkwardly, losing one length.
b) BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON (R Fourie) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) MISS PREDATOR refused to proceed to the start from approximately the 600m. As a consequence, Jockey X Ndlovu dismounted and led this filly to the start. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended.
b) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that the bit on POMODORO MAGIC, which was hanging out from the 400m, pulled through this mare's mouth in running.
c) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that MISS PREDATOR changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer SB Kotzen was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
d) MAGICAL RIVER (M Yeni) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders)
e) Trainer K Mitchley was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that she failed to ensure that MAGICAL RIVER was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the eighth (8th) race. Trainer K Mitchley signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R2 500,00.
f) BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana, acting on behalf of Trainer AC Greeff, was advised. (LM)
