THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start LUCKY MISS (RA Venniker) was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PHILOSOPHISE (A Andrews). b) PHILOSOPHISE (A Andrews) was unable to secure clear running in the straight until approaching the 100m. c) At the 300m KNOCKOUT (R Fourie) was steadied and directed inwards when unable to secure a clear run between the outside running rail and FATAL GEM (L Mxothwa), which shifted out slightly away from SCHOOL POLICY (C Orffer), which was hanging out. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, KNOCKOUT (R Fourie) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of WUGUG (K Matsunyane), which was hanging out and CALLMEGETRIX (JP van der Merwe), which shifted out marginally. d) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with HAMPSTEAD HEATH and he did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Trainer C Bass-Robinson was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that she failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of FUN ZONE. Trainer C Bass-Robinson signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. f) FATAL GEM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
